Ranji Trophy 2020: Jammu and Kashmir to host their Ranji quarterfinal against Karnataka at home

Karnataka had requested BCCI to move the match to Bengaluru.

J&K will play their first quarterfinal after six seasons

Jammu and Kashmir Ranji team will be taking on Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy 2020 quarterfinal that after the home team qualified for the knockouts after six seasons.

At first there wasn’t much clarity as in where the match will be played as the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) wrote a letter to BCCI requesting to host the match in Bengaluru.

However, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) had also requested the Board not to shift the match out of Jammu. And now the match will be played at the Gandhi Memorial Science College Ground in Jammu.

We had written to the BCCI and this morning, we got a confirmation that the match will be held in Jammu. It is a big boost for the game here,” JKCA CEO, Asif Ali Bukhari, told Sportstar on Sunday.

But since, BCCI requires host associations to host matches where telecast facilities are available, thus there were question marks whether such arrangements can be made in Jammu.

But Bukhari assured that the match can be conducted smoothly. We still have some time in hand and we are confident of getting things sorted. We will try our best to ensure the match is conducted smoothly,” he said.

The quarterfinal between the two sides is scheduled from February 20 to 24.
