BBL 09: Knockouts' scenario clear as Thunder beats Scorchers and Hurricanes defeat Strikers

Perth Scorchers have been knocked out of the race of playoffs.

Alex Hales | GettyThe Perth Scorcher faced Sydney Thunder in a rain-curtailed match at the Sydney Showground Stadium. In a 15-overs per side match, Scorchers decided to bat first after winning the bat flip.

Cameron Bancroft hit 35* in 25 balls and Livingstone made 20, as Scorchers made 99/4 in their quota of 15 overs. Morris, Cook, Tremain, and Sams picked one-wicket each. Strikers got a revised target of 96 from 12 overs.

Alex Hales made 47 and Khawaja made 22 as the openers added 66 runs for the opening wicket. Chris Morris slammed 11* with one four and one six to take the team to a 7-wicket win via the D/L method.

Hobart Hurricanes v Adelaide Strikers

Matthew Wade slammed his highest BBL and T20 score of 130* (11 fours and 7 sixes). D’Arcy Short also slammed 72 runs with 4 fours and 4 sixes to his name as Hurricanes put on 217/1 on board.

In reply, Strikers got a good start with Phil Salt making 66 with 10 fours and 2 sixes and captain Head made 47 with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Alex Carey contributed 39 runs as well, but Hurricanes’ bowlers proved to be too good. Clive Rose, Nathan Ellis, and Scott Boland picked two wickets each.
