AB de Villiers has been in the news ever-since reports cropped up that he is in talks with Cricket South Africa for an international return in due time for the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia. In preparation for the same, he decided to enroll in the ongoing Big Bash League 2020.

He signed up with the Brisbane Heat side and though some of his initial innings were just a glimpse of what was to come and finally Mount De Villiers erupted in the January 25, 2020 match against Melbourne Stars at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

He came in to bat at 58/2 after 8 overs and the South African maverick batsman went after the Stars’ bowlers from the get-go. He slammed 71 in 37 balls with 2 fours and 6 sixes, helping the Heat reach 186/5. His innings was filled with exhilarating shots off both the pacers and spinners and seemed like he was working on something special, before falling to Dilbar Hussain, caught by Nic Maddinson.
