Ranji Trophy 2020: WATCH - Sarfaraz Khan emulates Virender Sehwag by hitting a six to reach his 300

Sarfaraz Khan of Mumbai emulated India batting great Virender Sehwag by reaching his maiden triple hundred against Uttar Pradesh with a six off Rinku Singh at Wankhede Stadium. Sarfaraz became the first Mumbai batsman since Rohit Sharma's 309* in 2009 to score a triple hundred for the 41-time winners.

Sarfaraz joined an elite company of Mumbai batsmen Sunil Gavaskar, Vijay Merchant, Wasim Jaffer (twice), Rohit Sharma, Sanjay Manjrekar, and Ajit Wadekar, who have all scored triple hundreds for the side.

Sarfaraz Khan’s 301* is the second-highest individual score in first-class cricket while batting at number six. The record is held by Karnataka's Karun Nair who hit 328 in the 2014/15 Ranji Trophy final.

Mumbai declared their innings at 688/7 after Uttar Pradesh had piled on 625/8 dec in their first innings. Hence, Mumbai took the lead and three crucial points from the game courtesy of Sarfaraz Khan's heroics.
