Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades faced each other in the 37th match of Big Bash League (BBL) 09 at Manuka Oval, Canberra on Wednesday (January 15).

Opting to bat first, Renegades posted 172/4 in 20 overs with significant contributions from Sam Harper (52 off 38 balls) and Shaun Marsh (47 off 34 balls).

Liam Bowe was the stand-out bowler for Thunder, claiming 2 for 23 in his stipulated four overs.

In reply, Sydney Thunder managed 122/7 in 14 overs before rain played spoilsport. The remaining 6 overs couldn’t be bowled and Thunder fell 12 runs short of the target on account of Duckworth-Lewis (DLS) method.

With this victory, Renegades also end their losing streak in BBL 09. They are still at the bottom of the points table with 9 defeats from 10 games.

In the 38th match of the competition, Melbourne Stars thrashed Perth Scorchers by 8 wickets to solidify their top position on the points table.
