BBL 09: AB de Villiers shines on his BBL debut as Heat thrash Strikers by 7 wickets

Brisbane Heat hosted Adelaide Strikers in the 36th match of Big Bash League (BBL) 09 at the Gabba on Tuesday (January 14).

Opting to bat first, Strikers got bundled out for a paltry 110 in 19 overs. James Pattinson (5/33) ran through Adelaide’s batting line-up with a sensational five-wicket haul, while Josh Lalor (2/12) and Ben Cutting (2/24) chipped in with a couple of scalps.

It was a below-par batting performance from Strikers as Rashid Khan (28 off 27 balls) was the only one to cross the 20-run mark.

In reply, the home team rode on Matt Renshaw’s unbeaten 45-ball 52 to overhaul the target in 15.2 overs with seven wickets in hand.

Featuring in his debut BBL match, the South African batting legend AB de Villiers also played a vital knock of 40 from 31 balls for the Heat.   

Liam O Connor (1/22), Rashid Khan (1/30) and Michael Neser (1/30) picked up one wicket each for the Strikers.
