Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan once again proved why he is rated as one of the best T20 bowlers in the world.

Playing for Adelaide Strikers against Sydney Sixers in the 27th match of Big Bash League (BBL) 09, Rashid claimed a sensational hat-trick at the Adelaide Oval on Wednesday (January 8).

Rashid picked up the wickets of James Vince, Jack Edwards and Jordan Silk in consecutive balls over the 10th and 12th overs.

While Vince was caught behind, Khan trapped Edwards in front of the wickets. Rashid saved his best for Silk as he pulled off the perfect wrong'un to bowl him through the gate.

Here’s the video:

Earlier, Rashid Khan had dismissed Sixers captain Daniel Hughes and the former eventually returned with the match figures of 4 for 22 in his stipulated four overs. However, his brilliance with the ball went in vain as the visitors registered a thrilling two-wicket victory.

Asked to bat first, Strikers got bowled out for 135 in 19.4 overs with Tom Curran (4/22), Ben Dwarshuis (2/20) and Lloyd Pope (2/33) doing the damage with the ball. Jake Weatherald was the top-scorer for the home team with 31-ball 47.

Defending the modest total, Adelaide bowlers led by Rashid and ably supported by Michael Neser (2/25), Peter Siddle (1/25) and Harry Conway (1/34) ran through Sixers’ top and middle-order. But contributions from Vince (27 off 20 balls), Curran (21 off 20 balls) and a cameo from Josh Hazlewood (12 off 3 balls) took Sydney Sixers over the line with 8 balls to spare.
