Ranji Trophy 2019-20: DDCA announces Dhruv Shorey as captain, Nitish Rana his deputy

Shorey and Rana have been playing for Delhi for a few years now.

The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has announced the squad for the first two games of their Ranji Trophy campaign. 

Delhi will begin its Ranji Trophy campaign from next week with their first game against Kerala. The DDCA has not included senior players Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma for the first two games. Kohli and Pant will be playing against West Indies, while Dhawan and Ishant are unavailable.

Right-handed top-order batsman Dhruv Shorey has been announced as the captain of the Delhi side. He will be assisted by the southpaw batting all-rounder Nitish Rana. The duo have been playing for Delhi for some years now, the pressure will be on them to lead the way for a young team in absence of the experienced players.

The squad for the first two games includes names like Pradeep Sangwan, Navdeep Saini and Anuj Rawat, but none of the others have been playing for a long time.

Squad for the first two games: Dhruv Shorey (c), Nitish Rana (vc), Kunal Chandela, Anuj Rawat (wk), Jonty Sidhu, Lalit Yadav, Shivam Sharma, Vikas Mishra, Tejas Baroka, Pradeep Sangwan, Navdeep Saini, Pawan Suyal, Kunwar Bidhuri, Hiten Dalal, Shivank Vashisht.

The Delhi selection committee has also kept four players on standby. They are Pranshu Vijayran, Sarang Rawat, Kshitiz Sharma, Karan Dagar.
