India and Rajasthan pace bowler Deepak Chahar cannot seem to do anything wrong these days. After coming off a world record T20I bowling figures of 6/7, which included a hat-trick, the first by an Indian men’s team bowler in the format; Chahar turned out for Rajasthan in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019 tie against Vidarbha and performed well.

Chahar who is captaining the Rajasthan team in the tournament, took Vidarbha by storm as he picked four wickets in an over. Vidarbha was already reeling at 93/5 when Chahar started the 13th over of the innings and removed Rushabh Rajkumar on the first ball, then picked the wickets of Darshan Nalkande, Shrikant Wagh and Akshay Wadkar on three balls.
But he bowled a wide after picking Nalkande’s wicket, hence the hat-trick was not achieved.
Chahar ended up picking 4/18 in 3 overs as Vidarbha made 99/9 in the 13-over per side match with Akshay Kolhar making 24 and Jitesh Sharma making 18.
In reply, Rajasthan needed 107 to win via VJD method. Manendra Singh made 44 in 17 balls with 6 sixes, Ankit Lamba made 15 and Arijit Gupta made 12 while Akshay Wakhare picked 3/15 in 3 overs. Rajasthan batsmen made a mess of the chase and eventually lost the match by 1 run VJD method making 105/8 in 13 overs.
