Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20: Shivam Dube slams 67-ball 118 in a valiant attempt against Karnataka

Karnataka beat Mumbai by 9 runs in a thrilling encounter.

KL Rahul and Manish Pandey slammed half-centuries | TOIThe Elite Group A match between Karnataka and Mumbai saw some of the best power-hitting possible in a very exciting match. Mumbai won the toss and chose to bowl first at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.

KL Rahul (57) and Devdutt Padikkal (79) added 137 runs for the first wicket, while Manish Pandey (62) and contributions from Rohan Kadam, BR Sharath, and K Gowtham helped Karnataka reach 312/7 in 50 overs.

For Mumbai, Dhawal Kulkarni, Shardul Thakur, Shams Mulani, Dhrumil Matkar, and Siddhesh Lad picked one wicket each.

K Gowtham hit Mumbai hard with wickets of captain Aditya Tare for 32 and Lad for 34, while Yashasvi Jaiswal fell for 22 runs.  The fall of wickets continued with Iyer making 11 and Suryakumar making 26 and Mumbai were looking down the barrel 166/5, which became 169/6 with the wicket of Mulani.

But Shivam Dube threw caution to the wind and slammed the Karnataka bowlers to all parts of the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. He slammed 118 in 67 balls with 10 sixes and 7 fours at a strike rate of 176.12. however, his wicket fell at the score of 277, and then Shardul (26) also got out with score reading 288 leaving the last wicket to get 25 more runs.

Dhawal Kulkarni made 11 runs, but Karnataka bowlers prevailed as Mumbai was bowled out for 303 runs and Karnataka won the match by 9 runs. Abhimanyu Mithun picked 3/40 and K Gowtham picked 3/51.
