Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019: Manish Pandey, KL Rahul star in Karnataka’s thumping win over Chhattisgarh

Karnataka posted 285/7 in 50 overs and bundled out Chhattisgarh for 206 in 44.4 overs.

Chhattisgarh and Karnataka faced each other in the fifth round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy match at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday (October 2).

Sent into bat first, Karnataka rode on captain Manish Pandey’s unbeaten 118-ball 142 (5 fours and 7 sixes) and KL Rahul’s 103-ball 81 to post 285/7 in 50 overs.

For Chhattisgarh, Puneet Datey (2/60) and Shashank Singh (2/66) claimed two wickets each while Pankaj Kumar Rao (1/38) and Sumit Ruikar (1/65) chipped in with wicket apiece.

In the chase, Chhattisgarh kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Prasidh Krishna (3/31) and Shreyas Gopal (3/53) decimated the top and middle order with three scalps each, while Ronit More picked up a couple of wickets.

Apart from Shashank Chandraker (42) and Amandeep Khare (43), none of the Chhattisgarh batsmen managed to cross the 40-run mark as Karnataka eventually bundled them out for 206 in 44.4 overs, securing an emphatic 79-run victory.
