Veteran batsman Robin Uthappa is set to lead a strong Kerala team in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, starting September 24.
Uthappa will have the talented wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson as his deputy, Kerala Cricket Association announced (KCA) on Friday (September 20).
All-rounder Jalaj Saxena, Basil Thampi, and Sandeep Warrier are other star players in the side. Both Jalaj and Sandeep were a part of India ‘A’ recently while Thampi has been named in India’ T20 squad two years ago.
Sachin Baby, who led the team in the previous season, is also a part of the 15-member squad.
Kerala is placed in the Group A of the 50-over tournament along with Andhra, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Hyderabad, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Mumbai and Saurashtra.
The Uthappa-led side will start their campaign against Chhattisgarh in Bangalore on September 25.
