Murali Vijay slams 107 against Meghalaya in Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy

M Vijay had previously scored 74 and 77 in his last two matches in the tournament.

Murali Vijay | The Hindu File PhotoDiscarded Indian Test opener Murali Vijay had recently claimed that he was hurt when he was dropped from the Indian Team during the Australia Test series down under, despite a decent show. Earlier, Vijay was sent back home after the second Test against England at Lord’s in 2018, where he had bagged a pair.

Vijay has been currently turning out for Tamil Nadu in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tourney and has scores of 3, 77 and 74 in three matches.

However, M Vijay went a step better in the recent match against Meghalaya and slammed a century after Tamil Nadu captain R Ashwin won the toss and chose to bat first at Lalabhai Contractor Stadium, Surat.

Vijay along with Washington Sundar (53) added 139 runs for the opening wicket in 14 overs. Vijay carried on to make 107 in 67 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes. Tamil Nadu put up 213/2 in 20 overs thanks to Vijay’s century and contributions from Sundar and R Vivek (36).
