Cheteshwar Pujara scores first ever T20 century for Saurashtra in Syed Mushtaq Ali T20

Pujara achieved the feat against Railways.

Pujara becomes the only Indian to have scores of 350+ in First class Cricket, 150+ in List A, 100+ in T20s

The group C match between Saurashtra and Railways at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore of the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy proved to be an exciting match with one batsman surprising everyone else.

However, the hero of the match for Saurashtra proved to be Cheteshwar Pujara, who became the first batsman from the team to score a century in the T20 format. Pujara made 100* in 61 balls with 14 fours and 1 six.

This made Pujara the fourth Indian to score a hundred in T20s, 150+ in List A and a triple hundred in First-Class cricket. The other three to do so are Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, and Mayank Agarwal, with Agarwal and Pujara scoring the triple in FC, 150+ in List A and 100 in T20 in Indian domestic tournaments.

He has played 58 T20 games in the past and scored 1096 runs at an average of 25.48 and strike rate of 105.18 with six half-centuries. His previous best was a 55-ball 81 against Jammu and Kashmir in the same tournament in 2016.

Pujara is generally overlooked for the Indian Premier League (IPL) despite having stints with Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the past.

Saurashtra was asked to bat first after Railways won the toss and their openers Harvik Desai and Cheteshwar Pujara added 85 runs in first 9 overs. Desai was dismissed for 34 and then Robin Uthappa took over and scored 46 in 31 balls. Saurashtra made 188/3 in 20 overs.

Railways managed to overhaul the target with contributions from Mrunal Devdhar (49), Pratham Singh (40) and Abhinav Dixit (37*), as they reached the target with 2 balls to spare and won the match by 5 wickets.
