The nation is still mourning the loss of 40 lives in the dastardly terrorist attack which happened on the CRPF envoy in Pulwama district, Srinagar on February 14. An explosive-laden SUV driven by a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) suicide bomber crashed into a bus carrying CRPF jawans causing an explosion.
Now, in an act of solidarity, the Irani cup winning Vidarbha team has decided to donate the prize money to the families of the slain CRPF jawans. The announcement was made by Vidarbha captain Faiz Fazal.
"We as a team have decided to donate the prize money to the family of the martyrs who lost their lives in Pulwama. This is a small gesture from our team and VCA. Hopefully, everything will get better for them soon," said Fazal.
Rest of India skipper Ajinkya Rahane had set a bold target of 280 runs for Vidarbha on day four and the Ranji champions batted exceedingly well to reach 269/5 before finishing their innings with 11 runs adrift of the target.
Vidarbha had bowled out Rest of India for 330 in the first innings, before taking a 95-run lead courtesy No.8 batsman Akshay Karnewar’s 102 helping Vidarbha to 425. ROI declared their second innings at 374/3 riding on Hanuma Vihari’s unbeaten 180 and 87 and 61 from Rahane and Shreyas Iyer, respectively.
