He is one of the greatest batsmen in the history of Indian domestic cricket and maybe that's why Wasim Jaffer deserves life to be kind on him. 

The exceptional right-hander played 31 Tests for the country but winning the prestigious Ranji Trophy for now 10 times in his career must be something he cherishes from the bottom of his heart. 

After an illustrious 18-year-long sojourn for Mumbai that saw eight title victories, Wasim, when he joined Vidarbha ahead of the 2015-16 season, wouldn't have believed if someone had told him there are two more such wins awaiting him. 

That is exactly what happened on February 7, as Faiz Fazal and his team went on to beat Saurashtra in the final of 2018-19 Ranji Trophy. And Wasim, who ended up with 1037 runs at an average of 69.13 from 11 matches this season, was absolutely delighted about it. 

"Didn't think I would play another Ranji Trophy final when I left Mumbai," he told ESPNcricinfo on Thursday after the win, "Two in two is unbelievable. When I came back from injury, Chandrakant Pandit became the coach and brought me in. I don't want to let it go. Playing in a winning team motivates you."

The 40-year-old notched up four centuries and another 206 versus Uttarakhand in the quarterfinal. Wasim also became the first batsman to score 1000 runs in a Ranji Trophy season twice.
