Ranji Trophy 2018-19: Vidarbha rout Uttarakhand to secure the semi-final berth

Vidarbha will now face Kerala in the first semi-final from January 24.

Vidarbha booked their semi-final berth in Ranji Trophy 2018-19 season with an emphatic innings and 115-run victory over Uttarakhand in Nagpur on Saturday (January 19).

The defending champions needed five wickets on the final day and they took merely eight overs to seal the deal. Uttarakhand suffered a collapse on the fifth morning, losing five wickets for just seven runs and eventually got bundled out for 159. For Vidarbha, Umesh Yadav and Aditya Sarwate recorded five-wicket hauls in the second innings.

Earlier, Vidarbha rode on veteran campaigner Wasim Jaffer’s 206, Sanjay Ramaswamy’s 141 and Aditya Sarwate’s 102 to post a gigantic 629/10 in the first innings. With this collective batting effort, the hosts also secured a massive 274-run lead.

Umesh Yadav was adjudged Man-of-the-Match for his 9 wickets in the match. Vidarbha will now face Kerala in the first semi-final from January 24.

Brief scores: Uttarakhand – 355 & 159 (Umesh Yadav 5-23) lost to Vidarbha – 629 (Wasim Jaffer 206, Sanjay Ramaswamy 141) by an innings and 115 runs.
