Bengal captain Manoj Tiwary backed his claims for a Team India return with a brilliant double hundred in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2018/19 match against Madhya Pradesh at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Bengal was put into bat by Madhya Pradesh captain Naman Ojha and Bengal set course to put up a big total on the board. AR Easwaran scored 86 to give a good start to Bengal and Koushik Ghosh scored an even 100.

But the star for Bengal was their captain Manoj Tiwary who remained unbeaten on 201 in 279 balls with 20 fours and 4 sixes. Bengal finally declared for 510/9 with Tiwary leading from the front.

Tiwary has been knocking on the doors of the Indian team for quite some time now and had said recently, "When somebody performs to his highest, then he should be rewarded. And I had an outstanding 50-over tournament last season, creating a record that no one else has had in Indian cricket history. And as far as fitness is concerned, I'm always up there. I don't know what more I have to do, there is no clarity from the selectors. And I would love to hear from them. If I can get to know what the parameters are, then obviously I will plan accordingly."
