Ajinkya Rahane smashed a glorious 144* to lead the foundation for India C’s 29-run victory over India B in the Deodhar Trophy final at the Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi on Saturday (October 27).

Opening the batting, Rahane played a captain’s knock to notch up his 10th List A ton. His 156-ball knock was laced with 9 boundaries and 3 sixes as India C posted a mammoth 352/7 at the end of 50 overs.

Apart from his classy batting, Rahane also entertained everyone with his premature century celebration. The India C skipper Rahane guided the ball towards long-on in the 37th over to take a single and raised his bat to celebrate the milestone. However, the commentators were quick to spot that the Mumbaikar was still three runs short of his hundred.

Rahane's teammate Suresh Raina also made a gesture from the dressing room that he needs three more runs to achieve the magical three-figure. The entire incident put a smile on everyone’s face as Rahane too smirked and went on with the game.

Coming to the match, captain Shreyas Iyer (148 off 114 balls) waged a lone battle as India B kept losing wickets at regular intervals. For India C, Pappu Roy picked up three wickets, while Navdeep Saini, Rajneesh Gurbani, and Vijay Shankar claimed two wickets each.
