Deodhar Trophy 2018/19: India B defeats India C comfortably by 30 runs thanks to Vihari (76) and spinners

Hanuma Vihari and K Gowtham were the stars for India B.

K Gowtham | CricBuzzIndia B led by Shreyas Iyer comfortably defeated India C led by Ajinkya Rahane by 30 runs in the Prof DB Deodhar Trophy 2018/19. This was the second win for India B in the tournament.

India B batted first after Iyer won the toss and once again it was Hanuma Vihari, who scored 76 in 94 balls with 6 fours, anchoring the innings as others played cameos around him. India B reached 231/9 in 50 overs, as India C bowlers utilized the Kotla pitch to the maximum.

Rajneesh Gurbani picked 3/38, while Pappu Roy claimed 3/45 and Vijay Shankar chipped in with 2 wickets.

The chase proved to be quite difficult for India C, as India B spinners spun a web of some clever bowling. Ajinkya Rahane, the skipper labored to 32 in 61 balls and Suryakumar Yadav top scored with 39 and Shubman Gill made 35. Even Washington Sundar hit 19 and along with Navdeep Saini’s 18 tried to take the team as close to the total as possible.

K Gowtham picked 3/40 and Manoj Tiwary picked 3/44 as India C managed 201 in their 48.2 overs and lost the game by 30 runs. Hanuma Vihari was named the Man of the Match.
