Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018-19: Mumbai makes it to finals with VJD win over Hyderabad; Shaw, Iyer score fifties

Rohit Rayudu of Hyderabad made an unbeaten 121Mumbai faced Hyderabad in the first semi-final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018/19 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.

Hyderabad won the toss and chose to bat first and crawled their way to 246/8 with an unbeaten century from Rohit Rayudu, who made 121* in 132 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes. B Sandeep scored 29 and Mehdi Hasan made 23 to propel Hyderabad near 250. But it was Rayudu, whose fifty came off 92 balls, but he accelerated well in the death overs.

For Mumbai, Tushar Deshpande picked 3/55 and Royston Dias picked 2/43, while Dhawal Kulkarni, Shivam Dube, and Shams Mulani picked a wicket each.

Mumbai’s chase was anchored by Prithvi Shaw, who smacked 61 off 44 balls with 2 sixes and 8 fours, while Rohit Sharma scored 17. Both were clean bowled by Hyderabad spinner Mehdi Hasan.

Prithvi Shaw continued his good form with a breezy 61 for Mumbai | TwitterCaptain Shreyas Iyer scored 55* in 53 balls and Rahane was 17* when rains came down and the match couldn’t be resumed.

Mumbai was declared the winners of the match by 60 runs via VJD method and progressed to the finals, where they will face the winners of the second semi-final between Delhi and Jharkhand.
