In a development that must've inflict anger amongst the members of the BCCI All-India senior selection committee, MS Dhoni has decided not to feature for Jharkhand in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy even after chief selector MSK Prasad's clear announcement of the same few days back.

This only adds fuel to the fire, where there are widespread rumours that there is no clarity in communication between the team management and the selection committee.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been going through a drought of runs for a while now and it was expected, he will be playing domestic cricket to gain some invaluable time in the middle, but the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman has decided not to feature in the quarterfinal match against Maharashtra.

The Jharkhand chief coach Rajiv Kumar confirmed the news on Saturday, October 13, and cleared, “Dhoni feels that it would not be fair for him to join us at this stage, given that the team has done so well and reached the quarter-final stage in his absence. He does not want to upset the team balance.”

Announcing India's squad for the first two ODIs of the ongoing home series against West Indies, MSK Prasad had said, “Dhoni is playing the knock-outs. About Rayudu, I will check and get back.”

This raises a big question whether Prasad had even consulted Dhoni before making that announcement, “I would love to know how MSK Prasad gets in touch with Dhoni,” a BCCI official was quoted saying, “Last heard, even VVS Laxman didn’t get a chance to speak to Dhoni before announcing his retirement. Hope he is telling the truth.”
