Delhi rope in Parvinder Awana as bowling coach

Former Indian paceman Parvinder Awana, who recently retired from international cricket has been appointed as the bowling coach of the Delhi side for the upcoming Ranji season.

Following his retirement from the game, Awana was named a junior selector in  Delhi Ranji Trophy squad but decided to leave the role out to take up the coaching duty with the stateside.

The latest development has confirmed by the Delhi and District Cricket Associating (DDCA) on September 18 (Tuesday), as well as, confirmed that the former India pacer Chetan Sharma has been named as a replacement for Awana in the junior selection committee.

As per IANS, DDCA said in a statement, “Parvinder Awana has resigned as selector Jr Selection Committee. His resignation has been accepted and in his place, Chetan Sharma has been appointed as selector Jr Selection Committee.”

The statement further reads, “On the recommendation of the men's Selection Committee, Parvinder Awana has been appointed bowling coach, Ranji Trophy.”

Noteworthy, former India cricketer Virender Sehwag resigned from the DDCA cricket committee along with Aakash Chopra and Rahul Sanghvi, citing "busy schedule" earlier on Monday (September 17).
