The West Indies cricket team has had to suffer a lot due to the stress going on at the management level. World Cup 2019 failure was a consequence of the same. Players like Dwayne Bravo had made themselves available for the tournament but weren’t picked because of non-cricketing reasons and it is upsetting for cricket fans over the world.

DJ Bravo said at an event launching his new song ‘Love you baby’, “With this new president when he took over, he said he opened the doors to everybody. I had officially announced my retirement from international cricket but made myself available and was not selected along with other players, who we all thought should have got the opportunity to represent the region in the World Cup.

As a result of the mismanagement, the Caribbean nation won only 2 games in the mega event and finished only above Afghanistan. Bravo is very disappointed by the leadership at all levels in the game in the islands.

In West Indies cricket, a lot of people are afraid of making brave decisions. The team needs stronger leaders, not only at a captain level but from administrators’ level, from a senior players’ level, they just need to be stronger as individuals,” he said.

The national team’s performance in white-ball cricket is a big area of concern given that the T20 World Cup is not far away. The West Indies have lost 13 of their last 22 ODIs and all of their last six T20Is. This is certainly not how the defending T20 World Champions should fare in the format.

The 35-year-old all-rounder believes that fellow veteran Kieron Pollard must be given the opportunity to lead the team in limited-overs formats and try to get them back on track.

He said, “I will back Kieron Pollard to be a white ball captain for West Indies. He is a very good leader and he leads from the front.
