Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday (July 21) reiterated his promise to fix issues surrounding and within the national cricket team after a disappointing World Cup campaign in UK. 

Pakistan missed out a berth in the top-four to New Zealand on lesser net run-rate despite finishing with equal number of points in the league phase. 

But as the wider cricketing fraternity knows very well by now, the problems in the administrative running of the sport back home run deeper and the occasional triumphs will no longer hide them. 

"I went to England where I learned to play cricket. When we returned from there we raised the standard of other players. After the World Cup I have decided that I will fix the Pakistan cricket team," Imran was quoted as saying at an event by Geo TV. 

"The team you see in the next world cup, remember my words that team will be a professional team. We will fix the system and bring one in which the best talent comes forward."

Sarfaraz Ahmed's men suffered costly losses to West Indies, Australia and India before bouncing back with victories over South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, England and Bangladesh but it was quite late by then.
