It was a heartbreaking finale for New Zealand team as the hosts England claimed their maiden 50-over World Cup on boundary count. The match went to a super over after both teams ended up with 241 runs on the board at the end of their 50 overs. The super over could not give a result as it also ended in a tie.

As the result did not go their way, Kane Williamson was disappointed as well but he did not make any hurtful remarks and walked away in a graceful manner. The ICC recognized that not only Williamson’s 578 runs at an average of 82.52 but the manner in which he carried himself and led his team and honoured him the Man of the Tournament award.

The Indian Cricket team head Coach Ravi Shastri was one of many to praise 28-year-old Kane Williamson for his immaculate composure and graceful conduct.

Shastri praised the Kiwi skipper by tweeting, “Your composure and dignity viewing the sequence of events was remarkable. Your dignified grace and silence 48 hours since is simply remarkable. We know you have one hand on that WC. You not just Kane. You Kane and Able. God bless. #CWC19.

Here is the Tweet from Ravi Shastri:

It was arguably one of the greatest World Cup finals and both teams gave their 100 percent but due to some umpiring blunders, a few bad moves and some seriously bad fate cost New Zealand their second World Cup final on a trot.
