England became World Champs for the first time after three defeats in finals in 1979, 1987 and 1992.

England captain Eoin Morgan will always be remembered for his world record 17 sixes against Afghanistan in the tournament. He made 148 runs in the match, but otherwise was a bit of flop with the bat in remaining matches. His captaincy, however, was top class, keeping his team focused on the goal of becoming world champs all throughout the duration of the tournament.

MARK WOOD- 7/10

Mark Wood | GettyMark Wood formed a fearsome pair of opening fast bowlers along with Jofra Archer. He picked 18 wickets in 11 matches with the best bowling of 3/18. Wood was the perfect foil for a more aggressive Archer and his economy of 5.16 helped build the pressure as well.

JOS BUTTLER- 7/10

Jos Buttler played two important innings in the tournament, one ended in defeat and another helped England win the trophy. His century against Pakistan almost took the team to the win, but his all-important 59 came against New Zealand in the final, as he and Stokes put on more than 100 and put England in a position of advantage. He also made 14 dismissals behind the stumps as well.
