CWC 2019: Cricket fraternity reacts as England restricts New Zealand to 241/8 in the final; Henry Nicholls makes 55

New Zealand and England are yet to win a World Cup yet.

Latham scored 47 and was the second highest scorer for Kiwis | GettyThe final of the ICC World Cup 2019 at Lord’s ground in London saw New Zealand taking on England. England came into the final by defeating Australia, while New Zealand got the better of India in the semifinals.

Kane Williamson won the toss and chose to bat first in the all-important match. Both the teams went in unchanged from the semi-finals. Martin Guptill’s woeful tournament came to an end with a score of 19, but Nicholls (55) and Williamson (30) added 74 runs for the second wicket.

However, after they got out, apart from Tom Latham (47), no one else managed to get going to up the ante of the innings during the second half of the innings. Neesham made 19 and De Grandhomme made 16, as New Zealand finished on 241/8.

Both Woakes and Plunkett picked three wickets each | GettyLiam Plunkett (3/42) and Chris Woakes (3/37) were the most successful England bowlers in the match.

The Cricket fraternity has mixed feeling about the Kiwi innings, as they felt that their innings couldn’t get any momentum and praised the England bowlers for keeping the pressure on the batsmen. We have collated some of the best tweets.
