Team India who had a great run in the league stages was knocked out of the World Cup after they fell 18 runs short of 239 runs posted by New Zealand in the first semifinal at Old Trafford in Manchester on July 10 (Wednesday).

It was a case of top-order collapse as Rohit, Rahul and skipper Virat Kohli were back in the dressing room with only 1 run each to their names as the score read 5-3 after 3 overs.

After losing Hardik, the all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja came to the crease with Dhoni at the other end when the team was at 92-6. Jadeja played a superb knock of 77 runs off 59 deliveries with 4 boundaries and 4 maximums and took India closer to the victory before losing his wicket.

While speaking to Bombay Times, Ravindra Jadeja’s wife Rivaba said, “He was inconsolable after the loss and kept saying, 'If I wouldn't have got out, we could've won'. When you lose a match after coming this close, it really hurts and it will be a while before he comes to terms with it.

Rivaba, however, was not surprised at his knock as it made all the fans believe that the team can get over the line which seemed impossible at one point. She then pointed out that the 30-year-old left-hand batsman from Saurashtra has always been the go-to-man for the Indian team in the big games.

If you look at his journey, he has always performed in crunch games, taking wickets and scoring vital runs. When we won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013, he was the man of the match in the final for his all-round performance,” Rivaba added.
