With more than two weeks to go for their next international assignment, Indian cricketers will head towards different destinations being together on the road for seven weeks.
Team India’s dream of winning the World Cup got shattered on Wednesday (July 10) after a heartbreaking 18-run defeat at the hands of New Zealand in Manchester. Virat Kohli and company will now be gearing up for a Test and limited-overs tour of West Indies, starting August 3.
As per a report published in PTI, a few players are set to return to India whole some others are expected to stay back or leave for different destinations for a two-week break. Veteran wicketkeeper batsman MS Dhoni, whose future is the subject of speculation after what is being considered his last assignment in national colours, is likely to return to his hometown Ranchi after a few days.
"The logistics manager takes over from here on. The players will start leaving in batches and groups to their preferred destination as per availability of tickets," a BCCI source quoted as saying by PTI.
After the semi-final loss, India skipper Virat Kohli said that Dhoni has not told him anything about his future plans. But the report claims that an announcement on it might come once the former skipper returns home.
India’s tour of West Indies will start with three T20Is, two of which will be played in Florida, USA. This will be followed by an ODI series from August 8 to 14 and the assignment will culminate with a two-match Test series from August 22 to September 3.
