CWC 2019: Sachin Tendulkar says that he feels bad for Rohit Sharma; mentions time is the best healer

Sachin thinks India will need some time to overcome World Cup 2019 disappointment

Rohit Sharma | GettyFormer Indian skipper and legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar empathized opener Rohit Sharma and said, he will need time to overcome from the major setback and disappointment of the semi-final loss to New Zealand on July 10.

Rohit failed to get India to a good start as he was dismissed for 1 by Matt Henry. He was later pictured with tears in his eyes as India slid to a defeat that brought their campaign to an end in the World Cup 2019.

Rohit played with the utmost determination and class throughout this World Cup and became the first batsman to score five tons in a single World Cup edition.

Rohit’s reaction from the dressing room was enough to tell the story of India’s semi-final defeat. He cheered when Jadeja completed his valiant half-ton and urged him to keep going.

Despite a 106-runs stand between Dhoni and Jadeja, India felt short of 106 runs, as early setbacks in the form of Rohit, Kohli, and Rahul proved out to be fatal for the men in blue.

"He [Rohit Sharma] must be feeling terrible and so bad about the way we have ended this WC. It is something which he will take quite some time to overcome because this is a huge disappointment. I feel bad for him," Sachin Tendulkar told India Today.

"It is a tough time for everyone, we have expectations and dreams. All I can say is its been a tough day. How bad they must be feeling in the dressing room. I fully agree that we should have chased 240. 10 out of 10 times we would have taken that."

Tendulkar pointed the whole team including the support staff need to give themselves some time to overcome from World Cup 2019 disappointment.

"Time is the greatest healer, we just have to wait for a while, step aside a little bit give yourself some time and then take a call," Tendulkar added.

"Not just for Virat Kohli and Rohit, we have got 15 members in the squad along with the support staff. They have been working constantly behind the scenes. Everyone will be equally disappointed. As an Indian, it is disappointing and heartbreaking."
