Rishabh Pant had a task in hand when he walked out to bat in the semifinal at Manchester on Wednesday. It was a tough situation but the youngster fought well for his 32, especially after India were 3 down on just 5 runs.

It was a brave inning from the youngster. But what went against him is his poor shot selection which got him dismissed in an important game. The shot left many Indians angry. Not only Indian fans, but even former England captain Kevin Pietersen was upset after Pant decided to go for a rash hit when India was in trouble.

Pietersen criticized Pant for his repetitive mistake with the bat. Calling the attempt pathetic, he wrote, "How many times have we seen @RishabPant777 do that?????!!!!! The very reason he wasn’t picked initially! Pathetic!".

In Pant's defense, there was Yuvraj Singh who responded to Pietersen. Yuvraj tried to explain that he is still new to international cricket with just 8 ODIs and he will surely grow as he plays more cricket in the future. Pietersen then went on to explain his tweet and said it came out in frustration and he didn't mean to call him a bad player.
