CWC 2019: Cricket fraternity praises Shaheen Afridi’s 6/35 as Pakistan defeats Bangladesh by 94 runs

Shaheen Afridi registered best bowling figures for a Pakistani in World Cups.

The 43rd match of the ICC World Cup 2019 saw Pakistan end their tournament on a high by defeating Bangladesh at the Lord’s ground.

Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first as they needed to win by more than 310 runs to make it into the semi-finals. Fakhar Zaman made 13 runs, but Imam (100) and Babar Azam (96) added 157 runs to put Pakistan on track for a big score. Imad Wasim made 46 runs, but Pakistan only managed to make 315/9 runs on the board.

Mustafizur Rahman picked 5/75, his second consecutive fifer in the tournament, while Mohammad Saifuddin picked 3/77.

Shakib Al Hasan ended his World Cup with 606 runs and 11 wickets in 8 innings | GettyBangladesh never looked like chasing it down as Shaheen Afridi ran through their batting unit. Tamim (8), Soumya (22), and Mushfiqur (16) couldn’t manage to get going and only Shakib made a half-century (66) to end the tournament with 606 runs to his name and 11 wickets to go with that, a truly great performance.

Shaheen became the youngest bowler in World Cup history to take a five-wicket haul and ended up with figures of 6/35, which is also the best bowling figures for Pakistan in World Cups.

Bangladesh was bowled out for 221 runs and Pakistan won the match by 94 runs.

Cricket fraternity was elated with Pakistan's win and praised the young fast bowler Shaheen for his amazing performance.
