CWC 2019: Cricket fraternity applauds Team India as they defeat Bangladesh by 28 runs; qualifies for semifinals

The 40th match of the ICC World Cup 2019 saw Bangladesh facing off against India in what was a must-win match for the Tigers, while for the Men in Blue, a win would have taken them into the semi-finals. Well, the Virat Kohli led team fulfilled their objective of becoming the second team in the knockouts and also eliminated Bangladesh.

Kohli won the toss and chose to bat first, a decision that was proven correct by openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. Sharma made 104, his fourth century in the tournament and 26th overall; while Rahul slammed 77, with the duo adding 180 runs for the 1st wicket, a record for India in World Cups. The innings lost some momentum after the duo got out, as Kohli fell for 26, Pant made 48 and Dhoni made 35, leading the team to 314/9 in 50 overs. Mustafizur Rahman picked 5/59 in his 10 overs. Chahal had Mushfiqur caught by Shami for 24, and then Pandya accounted for Liton (22) and the all-important wicket of Shakib for 66 runs. Sabbir Rahman (36) and Shaifuddin (51*) tried their best to stay in the game, but the asking rate became too much to keep par with.

Bumrah ended the game with by removing Rubel and Mustafizur with amazing consecutive yorkers. Bangladesh innings ended on 286 runs and India won the game by 28 runs, and qualified for the semi-finals. For India Jasprit Bumrah (4/55) and Hardik Pandya (3/60) were the pick of the bowlers. 

The cricket fraternity was elated to see India make it into the semis of the World Cup 2019 and showered them with tweets.
