England captain Eoin Morgan hailed his team’s “outstanding” efforts against India in a must-win World Cup 2019 match on Sunday, 30th June in Birmingham, saying the much-needed win came at the right time against one of the title favorites here.

At Edgbaston, the hosts brilliantly managed to give a massive challenge of 337 runs to Virat Kohli and his team to make it to the top four, thanks to Jonny Bairstow (111) and Ben Stokes (79).

Later, English pace attack turned out a nightmare for the Men in Blue, as they earlier struggled to maintain the needed run-rate, resulting Rohit Sharma’s century and combined batting effort went in vain, resulting the hosts overpower India by 31-runs to come in an inch closer to the semi-final berth.

After a thrilling win over India, England is now looking to beat New Zealand in their final group match on Wednesday, 3rd June in Durham to make it to the semi-finals of World Cup 2019.

Morgan told reporters at a presser, “I'm delighted. The manner in which we played today was outstanding and resonates with everyone in the dressing room. It's come at a good time against a really good team.”

Hailing Bairstow, Morgan said, “He does tend to get fired up and that suits him, regardless of what's happened in the week. He likes a bit of fire in his belly and I don't mind that when he comes out and plays like that.”

Meanwhile, England has yet to win the World Cup, and Morgan said their win over India will encourage them to create history on home soil by winning the maiden title here.

Morgan signed off by saying, “Having played how we did today is very encouraging for us. The closer we get to play our A-game, the more chance we have of going all the way. If we were scraping along I wouldn't be as confident.”
