Former cricketer-turned commentator Kevin Pietersen has engaged in an interesting banter with Nasser Hussain, former England captain and cricket commentator, on the social media before the England-India World Cup 2019 encounter on 30th June in Birmingham.

England’s chances of making it to the World Cup semi-finals look in jeopardy after their back to back defeats against Sri Lanka and Australia in the tournament, and Pakistan's win over New Zealand has made the scenario even more difficult for the hosts, as they have to now win their remaining two matches against the Black Caps and India to qualify for the knockout stages.

With eight points from seven games, the World Cup hosts are currently placed fourth on the points table, and the Men in Green have now seven points and they will benefit immensely if England lose their next clash with India and Pakistani fans would be certainly praying for Virat Kohli and his team’s win, which will give them a golden opportunity to qualify for the semi-finals.

Given the scenario, Nasser went on his social media handle to ask the Pakistani supporters which team they will be supporting during the World Cup match between India vs England in Birmingham.

He tweeted, “Question to all Pakistan fans: England vs INDIA, Sunday. Who you supporting?” with a winking emoji at the end of the question on his official Twitter handle.

Meanwhile, Pietersen was the first man who replied to Hussain's tweet that was both hard-hitting and funny at the same time: “Who you supporting, Nass?”

However, Nasser quickly replied to KP’s tweet with another winking emoji, “England of course Kev. Same as you when England play South Africa at rugby.”

Noteworthy, neither Hussain – who was born in Chennai (then Madras) in 1968, nor Pietersen –who was born in Pietermaritzburg in Natal, South Africa in 1980, is English by birth, though, the two captained their adopted country in international cricket, while former captain directly hit at KP's South African origin by mentioning rugby in his tweet as the Proteas have the greatest passion for the sport here.
