Jason Roy, English opener, is trying his best to get back onto the field after injuring his hamstring in the early part of the World Cup. The opening batsman did bat on Monday in a bid to prove his fitness for the coming games.

The explosive 28-year opener tore his hamstring in the game against West Indies. Roy has already missed the games against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.

He was expected to make a comeback against Australia, but now will continue with recovery and is likely to be fit to take the field against India on Sunday.

Roy underwent a scan at the Fortius Clinic in London and then joined the rest of the squad at Lord’s for the net sessions. He took the nets after testing his left leg with few throwdowns.

In his absence, James Vince will get one more chance to present his skill set after a couple of dismal performances (14 and 26) in the tournament.
