Pakistan beat South Africa by 49 runs at Lord's in London and registered their second win of this World Cup while South Africa suffered their fifth loss.

Earlier Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first and openers Fakhar Zaman and Imam ul Haq gave a good start of 81 runs but both couldn't convert their starts into big innings and got out in 40s. Mohammad Hafeez also got out cheaply and Pakistan were 143/3 in 30 overs. Babar Azam and Haris Sohail continued to score runs at a good rate. Babar Azam brought up his second fifty of this World Cup but he too couldn't convert it into a hundred. Haris Sohail continued to smash South African bowlers and his 89 off 59 balls knock helped Pakistan to post a good total of 308/7 in 50 overs.

In reply, South Africa had a poor start and lost Hashim Amla for 2 runs in the second over. Quinton de Kock and Faf du Plessis started the rebuilding phase and had added 87 runs for the second wicket before de Kock got out for 47 off Shadab Khan's bowling. Aiden Markram failed once again and got out for just 7 runs. Faf du Plessis brought up his fifty but Mohammad Amir sent him back to pavilion for 63 runs. David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen's 53 runs partnership kept South Africa in the game but Shadab Khan broke this stand and after that they gave up and kept losing wickets and eventually finished on 259/9 in 50 overs. Wahab Riaz and Shadab Khan took 3 wickets each and Mohammad Amir took 2 wickets.
