New Zealand beat South Africa by 4 wickets in a last over thriller at Edgbaston in Birmingham and registered their fourth win of this World Cup while South Africa suffered their fourth loss.

Earlier New Zealand won the toss and opted to field first and Trent Boult gave them a perfect start by removing Quinton de Kock for just 5 runs. Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis saw off the new ball and took the score to over 50 and were looing set but Lockie Fergueson dismissed Faf for 23 runs and broke this stand. Aiden Markram and Hashim Amla continued to rotate strike but couldn't score quick runs.

Amla brought up his fifty but couldn't convert it into a big knock. Rassie Van der Dussen and David Miller played some good shots and helped South Africa to finish on 241/6. Rassie Van der Dussen played 67* runs knock. And for New Zealand Lockie Fergueson took 3 wickets. 

In reply New Zealand also started off poorly and Colin Munro got out off Kagiso Rabada bowling. Martin Guptill counter attacked and with Kane Williamson added 60 runs for the second wicket. At 72/1 New Zealand were looking good but Guptill got hit wicket out and Ross Taylor and Tom Latham also got out cheaply and all of a sudden New Zealand reduced to 80/4 and were in trouble. Captain Kane and Jimmy Neesham rebuilt the innings and added 57 runs for the fifth wicket. Chris Morris broke this stand by removing Neesham. Colin de Grandhomme counter attacked from first ball and kept playing good shots.

Both Kane and de Grandhomme brought up their fifties. In the last two overs New Zealand needed 14 runs to win but de Grandhomme got out off Ngidi bowling for 60 runs. In the last 7 balls they needed 12 runs to win and captain Kane hit three consecutive boundaries and took his team home and also brought up his first World Cup hundred.
