Receiving flak for his team’s dismal show in the ongoing World Cup, Afghanistan coach Phil Simmons on Wednesday (June 19) said that he will expose chief selector Dawlat Ahmadzai after the culmination of the showpiece event in England and Wales.

Afghanistan are having a difficult time in the 2019 World Cup. They are yet to open their account in the points table, having lost all five matches.

Simmons’ comments came in the wake of Afghanistan’s humiliating 150-run defeat at the hands of hosts England on Tuesday (June 18).

Taking to Twitter, Simmons wrote: “I am in the middle of a World Cup and trying to get our team to perform to the level we expect but at the end of the World Cup I will tell the Afghanistan people  about the part that Mr Dawlat Ahmadzai had to play in our preparation and his part in the dismissal of #AsgharAfghan”.

It is worth mentioning here that the three-member national selection panel led by Dawlat Ahmadzai announced three new different leaders for each format just before the World Cup, elbowing out Asghar Afghan from his role, and paving way for Gulbadin Naib, Rahmat Shah and Rashid Khan as captains of ODI, Test and T20I respectively.

Afghanistan have four more matches left in the quadrennial tournament. The Gulbadin Naib-led side will play India (June 22), Bangladesh (24), Pakistan (June 29) and West Indies (July 4) in the remaining matches.
