The 20th match of the ICC World Cup 2019 was played between Sri Lanka and Australia at the Kennington Oval in London which saw the Kangaroos decimate the Islanders by 87 runs.
Dimuth Karunaratne had won the toss and chose to bowl first, a decision that he must have regretted. Though Warner (26) and Khawaja (10) got out relatively quickly, Aaron Finch went onto make 153 in 132 balls with 15 fours and 5 sixes. He got some tremendous support from Steve Smith (73 in 59 balls) and Glenn Maxwell hit 46* in 25 balls to take Australia to 334/7 in 50 overs. Isuru Udana (2/57) and Dhananjaya de Silva (2/40) were the picks of bowlers for Sri Lanka.
In reply, Dimuth Karunaratne made 97 and along with Kusal Perera (52) added 115 in 15 overs. But then they lost wickets at regular intervals as Mitchell Starc picked 4/55 and Kane Richardson picked three wickets to remove the Lankan middle order for single-digit scores.
In the end, Sri Lanka managed 247 runs and lost the match by 87 runs.
