Jasprit Bumrah is the vital element of the Indian bowling attack as he has proven to be a match winner with the ball on several occasions. Bumrah who nails the yorker almost every time has in the past had problems with his fielding.

According to the fielding coach R Sridhar, the pacer however has worked hard and improved a lot from the time he joined the team in 2016.

While talking to Sridhar in a media interaction after the match against the current table toppers New Zealand was called off, he said, “Bumrah is probably one of the hardest workers as far as fielding goes. From when he joined the team in 2016 to what he is now, he’s a massive improvement, although still a work in progress, but a massive improvement.

When asked about the aspects of increasing fielding skills, the 48-year-old said, “The mindset of the players combined with the increased levels of fitness, and then we can chip in with the technical aspect of fielding and the awareness and anticipation part. So, combining all this definitely helps them improve their fielding skills.

When asked about the overall fielding standard of the Indian team. Former Hyderabad off-spinner said, “I think I’m personally, I’m very happy with the kind of resources I have. We have a terrific slip catcher and a safe catcher in Rohit, and we have two guys, Virat (Kohli) and Jadeja, who are very intimidating to the position. They can intimidate any batsman, and they are prowling in the 30-yard range.

After the game against the Kiwis was washed-out, Virat Kohli and Co. are scheduled to take field against the archrivals Pakistan at Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday, June 16. As the Green Army is coming off a 41-run loss against the defending champions Australia, it will be interesting to see how they come back as they are yet to win a Word Cup game against the Men in Blue.
