Virat Kohli showed some amazing maturity on the ground in India’s match against Australia. India chose to bat first after winning the toss and openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma added over 100 runs for the first wicket with Rohit making 57 runs.

Dhawan went onto make 117 and Kohli supported him with an 82-run knock. Dhoni and Hardik provided last over fireworks as India put on 352 runs. Though there were fifties from Warner, Carey, and Smith, none of them managed to go all the way, as Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar picked three wickets each, as India won the match by 36 runs.

However, during the Indian batting, Smith was heckled with boos and chants of cheater by fans as the former Australia captain fielded at the boundary ropes. Kohli saw what was happening and then gestured towards the crowd to stop booing Smith and instead applaud him. The crowd stopped the boos after Kohli’s gestures.

However, this gesture wasn’t welcomed by some former cricketers and England opener Nick Compton was one of them. He mentioned that” I don’t think Virat Kohli had any right to tell fans to stop booing at Warner and Smith but rather clap them.”

Now India cricketer Manoj Tiwary has taken on Compton in war of words and chided Compton for his remarks. Tiwary, who has played with Virat Kohli for India, mentioned in a tweet, “Wat is wrong wit this man ?? Humanity is far more beyond just rights nd wrongs in life. Grow up Nick Compton. U wont understand how we Indians feel about certain things in life. Request you to not drink before u make such comments ????”
