CWC 2019: Team India's World Cup-bound players congratulate Yuvraj Singh on a stellar career

Regarded as one of India's greatest white-ball cricketers, Yuvraj Singh announced his retirement from international cricket on Monday (June 10), bringing down the curtain on a stellar career. The southpaw disclosed his decision at a press conference held in Mumbai.

Yuvraj burst onto the scene in ICC Knockout Trophy in 2000. Some of his career highlights range from playing a brilliant 69 run knock in the 2002 Natwest final to smashing England's Stuart Broad for six consecutive sixes in the inaugural edition of ICC World T20 and playing an instrumental role in India’s 2011 World Cup triumph.

Yuvraj was Player-of-the-Tournament in the 2011 World Cup. The southpaw had amassed 362 runs at an average of 90.50 and claimed 15 wickets in the 10th edition of the quadrennial event.

As far as Yuvraj Singh’s credentials in international cricket is concerned – the stylish left-hander represented India in 40 Tests, scoring 1900 runs at an average of 33.93 with 3 centuries and 11 fifties. In 304 ODIs, he amassed 8701 runs at 36.56 with 14 tons and 52 fifties. He also proved his mettle in the shortest format, aggregating 1170 runs from 58 T20Is with 8 half-centuries.

As the revered cricketer calls time on his glittering career, wishes poured in for him from the cricketing fraternity. Team India's World Cup 2019 squad also congratulated the 37-year-old on an outstanding career.
