Jos Buttler is a vital part of England batting unit as he is third highest scorer in World Cup 2019 with 185 runs in 3 matches at a decent average of 61.67.

The 28-year-old who failed to get big runs against the Proteas in the tournament opener came back well as he scored a fantastic century in England’s 14-run loss against Pakistan. The right-hand batsman then went on to score quickfire 64 off 44 deliveries against Bangladesh.

Buttler who played an amazing innings against Sarfaraz Ahmed and Co. sustained “heavy bruising” on his right hip while batting and did not take field against Bangladesh at Cardiff on June 8. He was seen to be in some trouble after he hit Mosaddek Hossain for a big six over long-on which went out of the stadium.

He is responding well to treatment and will be reassessed later this week,” the ECB said in a statement.

The wicketkeeper batsman with amazing big hitting ability is “responding well to treatment” on his hip injury but his availability for the clash against the Windies is still doubtful.

We anticipate he will train with the rest of the squad at the Hampshire Bowl on Wednesday ahead of the match against West Indies on Friday.

Jonny Bairstow wore the wicketkeeping gloves as the explosive batsman from Taunton failed to recover from the injury sustained while batting at Cardiff. Bairstow can take up the role again if Buttler remains unavailable for their fourth league stage match at Southampton.

After their comprehensive win over Bangladesh by 106 runs at Cardiff on June 8, the hosts and current No.1 ODI side England take on the Windies at Southampton on June 14.
