The Men in Blue prevailed over the defending champions thanks to an amazing century by Shikhar Dhawan (117) and contributions from Virat Kohli (82) and a fifty from Rohit Sharma as well.

MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya provided fireworks down the order as India slammed 352 on the board. Australia looked good for the chase, but apart from half-centuries from Warner, Carey, and Smith, no other batsmen could turn his start into big innings. Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked three wickets each.

During the Indian innings, Steve Smith was fielding on the boundary and Indian contingent there started booing him and started chants of ‘cheater-cheater’. When Virat Kohli, who was batting noticed the scene, he gestured to the crowd to stop booing it and instead asked them to applaud Smith and the Indian crowd complied.

The Cricket fraternity was highly impressed by Virat Kohli’s maturity and applauded him on Twitter for his sportsmanship and gesture.
