Jofra Archer on Sunday, 9th May, has insisted that he will take England’s next Cricket World Cup 2019 match on 14th June against his native West Indies as “just another game of cricket”.

The Barbados-born fast bowler qualified for England selection earlier this year and has been impressive in his maiden World Cup taking a tally of 6 wickets in the three matches in the tournament.

After being overlooked for the Under-19 World Cup four years ago, Archer moved to county side Sussex and he is now looking forward to playing against his native side in the showpiece ICC event.

Archer said, “It's just the same as the last game, just another game of cricket. I know them pretty good. I played with a few of the guys at Under-19, so it will be good to actually play against them this time.”

With his ability to routinely bowl at over 90 mph, Archer is a hugely valuable asset for England, though, Mark Wood is another man in the English set-up who can challenge him with his blistering pace and the all-rounder believes that friendly rivalry can only be of benefit to England in their hunt for World Cup title.

Archer further added, “I'm a little bit quicker than him. Only Woody's speed came up (on the big screen). None of mine did, actually. It was a bit biased really!”

He continued, “But it's a good competition to have someone at the other end. It pushes you to do a bit better. Any little thing that can make you better makes the team better. It's nice to see but I'm much more concerned about bowling well. If I bowl at just 90 mph and I'm bowling well, I'd be much happier than bowling fast and going for six or seven an over.”

On his displeasure at an umpire's wide call against Pakistan, Archer signed off by saying, “I wasn't cross, I was a bit emotional. Every game I play I'm very emotional. I take my cricket very seriously.”
