The ICC World Cup 2019 has been in news for its umpiring standards and for the dastard zing bails that fail to fall despite ball hitting the stumps with some force. There have not been one or two, but five instances where batsmen have gotten a life despite the bowler doing its best.
The latest incident occurred in the encounter between India and Australia on Sunday, as opener David Warner was saved when the ‘zing’ bails – which contain lights that flash when the ball hit the wicket – were unmoved despite his off stump being clipped by a 140+ Jasprit Bumrah delivery.
In the very first over from Bumrah, a short of a length delivery climbed onto Warner and in an attempt to defend it, an inside edge led the ball roll back onto the leg-stump but the stumps remained firm. This led to the question on everybody’s lips is whether the hi-tech bails used too heavy for a ball to dislodge?

Many former and one current cricketer, who is playing in the World Cup was left asking the questions on Twitter whether these bails were designed to not fall.
