CWC 2019: Inzamam-Ul-Haq confident of Pakistan breaking their losing streak against India in this World Cup

Pakistan has never beaten India in a World Cup match in six attempts.

India and Pakistan will clash on June 16 in Manchester | Reuters File PhotoThe India-Pakistan rivalry in cricket transcends even the Ashes battles between Australia and England, simply because of the emotions, history of the two countries and the cricket crazy fans being involved in the whole thing.

While Pakistan has had an upper hand in ODI cricket against India, India can boast of an unbeaten run against their rivals in the cricket World Cup, given that they have defeated Pakistan six times in six meetings. The two teams first met in the 1992 World Cup in group stages, in the quarterfinals of the 1996 edition, the super six stage in 1999, group match in 2003, the semi-finals in 2011 and group match of 2015 edition.

India has prevailed over the Men in Green with ease in the prestigious tournament and is slated to clash on June 16 in Manchester, which has a big Asian community backing both the countries.

However, Inzamam-Ul-Haq, who had been part of four of such defeats at the hands of India, is confident that Pakistan will break the hoodoo this time. "People take a Indo-Pak match very seriously and some even go on to say that 'we will be happy even if only we can win against India during the World Cup'. I'm hopeful that we will end our losing streak against India in World Cup matches,” Inzamam said to a Pakistani Cricket website.

He further said, “Pakistan has the potential to beat other sides as well".
