India’s recently re-elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (May 25) conveyed his best wishes to Virat Kohli and the national cricket team for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, starting May 30.

Reply to captain Kohli’s congratulatory message on Twitter over his thumping win in the Lok Sabha polls, PM Modi replied: “Thank you @imVkohli. Wishing you and the team the very best for the upcoming World Cup.”

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sealed its phenomenal electoral victory with 300-plus seats. As the counting of votes for 542 Lok Sabha seats ended, the final tally of the Modi-led BJP stood at 303 seats, a super-sized triumph that had its leaders excitedly looking forward to a second successive term in government.

Meanwhile, Team India are doing their level best to gear up for the 12th edition of ODI World Cup in England and Wales. The Men in Blue faced New Zealand in the first warm-up game on May 25 and are scheduled to take on Bangladesh in the second practice match on May 28.

Kohli and company will begin their World Cup campaign on June 5 against South Africa in Southampton.
